Wimba Classroom is a real-time virtual classroom environment with features that include audio/video, application sharing, content display, polling, white-boarding, text chat, and more. It allows faculty to use a virtual classroom to broadcast live lectures, hold online meetings, and arrange various teaching/learning activities such as office hours, tutoring, team projects, guest speakers, etc.
Your instructor will schedule all Wimba Classroom meetings in advance.
You will need a computer that meets the following specificaitons:
Participant Requirements- Windows 2000+, Mac OSX 10.3+* or Linux**
- 128 MB RAM (256 MB recommended)
- IE 6.0+, Safari 1.2+, Firefox 1.5 - 2.0 (Browser must be Java and JavaScript enabled)
- Internet access at 56k or above
- Windows 2000+, Mac OSX 10.3+* or Linux**
- 256 MB RAM (higher recommended)
- IE 6.0+, Safari 1.2+, Firefox 1.5 - 2.0 (Browser must be Java and JavaScript enabled)
- Internet access at 56k or above (Broadband strongly recommended)
* Mac OS X 10.3 is not supported for Wimba Classroom 5.1.1+ * IE for Mac not supported ** Presenters cannot display content via Application Sharing using Linux. However, participants using Linux can view Application Sharing content **Audio and Video is only compatible with Linux on Wimba Classroom versions 4.2+
Buy or Borrow...
...a headset with microphone so that you can work hands-free. An inexpensive headset from Office Depot or Best Buys ($15-30.00) is fine.
Setup:
Wimba provides a set up wizard to help you get started with using Wimba Classroom.

Usually Wimba Classroom links directly from the GeorgiaVIEW Vista 8 course section that does not require you to enter any additional log in information. For the purpose of this demonstration, you will be logging into a demonstration room that requires you to simply enter a username. No password is required.

Finally:
Once you have successfully logged into to Wimba Classroom, take a moment to become familiar with the interface. Once inside the actual classroom you can review the different interface components.
