At Southern Polytechnic we are piloting a program with the IET and CSE departments to evaluate the application of the lecture capture software, Echo360.

The Echo360 system captures and publishes lectures, tutorials, and other instructional materials by faculty. Then it provides an on-demand internet viewing service for students. This system captures lectures in real time digitally, using video and /or audio and then provides links for the instructor to deliver the content to the students.

At SPSU we have two methods of capturing content using the Echo360 system.   

These two methods both deliver a rich media version of lectures and short tutorials through the internet.

Instructors request an account for Echo360 whether they are using personal capture or an appliance supported classroom.

Once activated, the instructor will receive an email confirming their access to the Echo360 services.
Once the instructor receives their account for http://spsu.echo360.com, they can proceed to download the personal capture software.

Students can watch the synchronized recorded sessions including PowerPoint slides and movie clips as frequently as they like and choose whether they watch using high or low speed connection and whether they view lectures using their MP3 players, MP4 players, laptops or desktop PCs.

For maximum student benefit, specific portions of the lectures can be found using a slide index as recordings are automatically divided at roughly the point of each slide change.
