Deans Council Meeting

Item 1. Updates


Dr. Szafran updated the Council on the following:




Item 2. Fall Kick-Off Schedule


The Fall Kick-off schedule will be as follows:


August 11 & 12  New faculty orientation  


August 15         School meetings            9-11:30 AM

                        New faculty reception    11:45-12:45 PA

                        General faculty meeting  1-2:15 PM

                        Department meetings     2:30-5:00 PM


August 16         Speaker/lunch


August 17         Classes begin



Item 3.  Capital Budget


Much discussion about black boards.  Joyce Mills & Bill Barnes submitted new requests.  Han provided quotes for J 251 - $37,650 (furniture/computers), server configuration $51,276 – Health program.  Zvi will compile and send spreadsheet and then release some funding.  As it is clearer how much money is available, additional money will be released.  End of year close out will be as in prior years.



Item 4. New Business


David Caudill suggested the need for support for audio visual needs as his office doesn’t have the personnel to provide instruction/support and asked for input from the Council.  One suggestion is to get Charlie Song to provide assistance or to use departmental technicians to help but they are not located in every building.  Another suggestion is to use rent money to hire someone or use student assistants.  No solution at this time.


SPSU 1001 – compensation is paid to faculty only if it is an overload.
